  • First Time at the Dentist for Baby

No matter the age, visiting a new doctor for the first can make a patient nervous. This can be especially true for young patients. At Children’s Dentistry of Rome, we make it a point to make the first dental visit as enjoyable of an experience as possible.

When it comes to the first time at the dentist for a baby, our team provides gentle care to ensure that the exam goes smoothly. The same goes for older children as well. We understand that some children can be nervous when it comes time to get in the exam chair, so we want to help them feel as comfortable as possible.

At Children’s Dentistry of Rome, we often get questions from parents about what is proper for a child’s first dental visit age. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) suggests that you take your child for their first dental visit by their first birthday or within six months of getting their first tooth. It’s common for primary teeth to begin coming in around six months old, so these dates typically fall within the same window of time. Although, if you’re still unsure about your child’s first dental visit, feel free to give us a call and we can provide you with advice.

The dental office of Children’s Dentistry of Rome has gone to great lengths to create a child-friendly environment for our young patients. Whether it’s the first dentist visit for a toddler or a teenager, our dentists will treat them with great care. Our team will make it a point to provide positive explanations and avoid negative language. We do this with young patients as our team focuses on preventative treatment that helps to keep teeth healthy. We will convey this during the first dental visit. In addition to using positivity, we avoid negative terms like saying that a patient requires an injection, is bleeding, or needs to be drilled. These are ways that we work to keep patients at ease during a child’s first dental visit.

Whether you have a baby, toddler, or teenager who is yet to have their first dental visit, our team can make an easy experience. Contact Children’s Dentistry of Rome today to schedule an appointment for your child. Give us a call at 706-291-2550 or send a message using our online contact form. My 6 year old has terrible anxiety issues with going to the dentist. This office is more than accommodating and never makes us feel like anything negative, just very patient. They’ve did 2-part appts for him just trying to go by what they thought was too much for him to handle. I’m so thankful for this office and their great staff. I really do feel like my kids matter here and appreciate every bit of their compassion and patience. I feel a warm welcomed genuine place here and so does everyone else I know who chooses to come to this office. I would recommend anyone here any day and give it 7 stars.

I am so glad I made an appointment for my grandchildren here. They couldn’t have been nicer. Everyone in the office was polite and kind. We had a very bad experience in Ringgold and they have restored my trust in pediatric dental care. We were back to today for clean and check up. I absolutely love this staff. Brittany took the time to explain exactly what was going on with Luke’s wisdom teeth I was thrilled that they added sealant to his molars . If you had a bad experience at this office it had to be before this group started their practice. I wish they could be my dentist. We had a appointment for a cleaning today 6/15/22 . Thanks to the office manager and the hard work they do helping me schedule this appointment. We had to cancel our last appointment due to basketball camp. My grandchildren are getting older and it difficult to work with them because of the different activities ,school plus part time jobs. I appreciate them for helping me help them maintain their dental health. Always cheerful and kind. I highly recommend them to everyone with children.
